18 Entrants Will Compete in the 2011 International Chronometry ContestsharetweetshareFourteen watchmaking companies and four schools will have fun playing the 2011 International Chronometry Contest. The winners are going to be announced on October 20 at Ch芒teau des Monts - Horological Museum of Le Locle. Find complete details and a list of entrants inside. The very first officially-sanctioned timekeeping competition in 37 years took place during 2009 when 16 timepieces were entered a single category, each competing against the mediocre ones. For 2011, competition may be modified with the contestants split into three groups: traditional movements, tourbillons, and watchmaking schools. In the competition, the timepieces are subjected to a variety of tests that happen to be depending on international standards, and this less difficult more rigorous than the well-known Official Swiss Control of Chronometers (COSC) tests. Measurements is going to be completed in officially-certified laboratories in Besancon, Bienne and Le Locle. Together with timekeeping accuracy measurements, the replica watches will undergo magnetism and shock tests reproducing conditions of everyday use.The final results from the competition are based strictly on objective criteria, namely performance results through the tests. Competition is billed as being a showcase for modern mechanical watchmaking, and its particular partners would be the Swiss Society of Chronometry, the Observatory of Besancon, the COSC, plus the Haute-Ecole ARC Ingenierie. The Competition's Committee of Honor is chaired with the astronaut and professor Claude Nicollier. Jean-Marc Triscone, Dean on the Faculty of Science with the University of Geneva presides over a worldwide jury guaranteeing the scientific and legal regularity in the competition. The Association of the Competitors is beneath the supervision from the Horological Museum of Le Locle.2011 EntriesCategory "Companies, Traditional"Artisan d'Horlogerie d'Art Voutilainen, Mtiers - Voutilainen, Cal. 28Chopard & Cie, Meyrin - Chopard L.U.C.
